My fascination with muscle became my profession. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, I photographed competitive bodybuilders and physique athletes from inside their world.
I Know Both Sides of the Lens
I wasn't just photographing these men. I spent years around them— in gyms, backstage, at competitions and on shoots. I got to know the men behind the physiques, and the culture that shaped them.
My own fascination with muscle led me into the inner sanctum of competitive bodybuilding as a physique photographer in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
That experience gave me a perspective few people have. I know what makes the bodybuilders tick—and I know what makes the men who are fascinated by them tick.
That experience still informs the work I do today.
